CAUSSE DU THERÓN EN TERRASE
The 2021 vintage was an atypical year, with spring frosts in early April resulting in a 50% crop loss. This was followed by a rather cold and wet spring and summer, which delayed phenological development. The usual phenolic maturities were very difficult to achieve, so an early harvest was necessary to maintain excellent fruit health. The harvest was very healthy and, producing wines with many fresh fruit notes, a slightly lower alcohol content and very elegant tannins.
Grapes sourced from a 42 year-old vineyard in Souturac, to the west of the appellation. This wine comes from a Terroir micro selection made within the vineyard.
The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts and controlled temperature. Maceration for 21 days. Aged in small concrete vats for 12 months.
It shows an intense violet color with red hues. This is a wine with a deep nose of plums and red fruits. On the palate, notes of blueberries stand out, with a fresh mouthfeel and delicate tannins. Supple and very precise.
