Vintage Notes

The season began with a dry and cool spring, which favored good fruit set in the vineyard. The summer was characterized by moderate temperatures and large amounts of rainfall in February and March, the months in which the harvest takes place. Towards the end of the harvest, rainfall decreased and temperatures did not have major peaks; they remained moderate and stable, maintaining the turgor of the berry and avoiding over-ripe descriptors. These conditions led to wines with great freshness and aromatic expression, high color intensities, elegant tannins and great structure.

vineyard

Bonarda and Malbec grapes from vineyards mainly from Luján de Cuyo and a smaller percentage from Medrano. Semillón comes from the Uco Valley. The climate is semi-desert, with hot days and cool nights. We choose soils with very good drainage, with very deep root systems and with an enormous capacity for resistance to heat waves. We discard abundant superficial gravel soils, which increases the warming effect of the microclimate around the plant and can accelerate the maturation period.

Winemaking

Blend of Bonarda, Malbec and Semillón grapes, all harvested by hand. Use of selection table for cluster classification. Malbec and Semillon grapes are harvested early and co-fermented, to soften tannins, highlight aromas and make the nose more complex. Bonarda is vinified separately, before the final blend, which is made a few months before bottling to maintain the freshness of the wines. components. Fermentation takes place in separate stainless steel tanks, between 24°C and 26°C, for 10 days. Fermentation exclusively with native yeast. Each tank is tasted 2 times a day during the process to evaluate its progress. Matured in concrete vats for a minimum of 9 months. It doesn’t pass for oak.

Tasting Notes

This rich blend of red grapes with a refreshing percentage of white grapes is a wine of pleasure and very easy to drink. It shows a burgundy red color with violet reflections. It has a complex nose, very fruity, with notes of cherry and plum. Aromas of thyme, black peppercorns and olives are also appreciated. In the mouth it has a textured and fruity entry, with a balanced acidity that provides a sensation of great freshness. It is a vertical wine on the palate, with tannins integrated into the acidity and sucrose in the finish. It is an excellent accompaniment to Mediterranean food dishes, especially those based on eggplant and tomato, but it can also be enjoyed alone.

harvest

A shorter harvest than others, but no less intense. It was a year marked by strong heat waves, a year in which physiological maturity was somewhat delayed with respect to organoleptic maturity. Our work in the vineyard allowed us to reach the desired alcohol and acidity just before the heat waves, preserving the fruit character and the tension of the skin of the berries. The season had also heavy rainfall, which threatened to delay the harvest. However, the rains stopped and opened a window, just in time, to harvest with optimal maturity and health. The cold weather of recent weeks gave the berries the necessary time to finish ripening and balance all their compounds. It was a vintage with great concentrations, colors and health, in the that fruit and spices predominated.

CATA’s notes

Tinto is a blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Semillón; a cut in which the old concept of pleasure wine is rediscovered with new nuances. It has a bright ruby red color, attractive and lively. On the nose, notes of ripe red fruits stand out, particularly raspberry and cherry. It also presents herbal notes, eucalyptus, menthol, pink pepper, chamomile flower, and a subtle gunpowder aroma. In the mouth it has a fresh entry, with balanced acidity, which makes it a vibrant, juicy and fine wine. Fruity notes predominate on the palate, where we also find spicy notes at the end. It is an excellent accompaniment to Mediterranean food dishes, especially those based on eggplant and tomato, but it can also be enjoyed alone.
