Vintage Notes

This was a very dry year, with an average rainfall below the region’s historic records. The weather in the months previous to the harvest marked the hottest minimum temperatures of the last ten years, with very hot days. These conditions produced very concentrated grapes, with amazing potential. February brought cooler days, so we rapidly organized the harvesting schedule to pick up the grapes at their optimum ripening level. By the first days of March, all the grapes were in the winery.

vineyard

Grapes come from vineyards in Luján de Cuyo (70%) and the Uco Valley (30%). The region has a semi-desert climate with hot days and cool nights. We choose fresh soils, with good water drainage and a fine silt-sandy texture. These soils allow a deep development of the roots since their water retention capacity is great for the roots to expand and give the plants a better ability to resist heat waves, which are common during the summer in Mendoza. In this climate, we avoid soils with abundant superficial gravels, which increase the warming effect around the vine and might shorten the ripening season.

Winemaking

100% Malbec grapes harvested by hand. After a careful, double sorting process, the grapes are softly pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in order to express the vineyard they come from. Fermentation takes place in separate stainless steel tanks between 24-28°C for 10 days. Each tank is tasted three times a day to determine what is needed. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 9 months in concrete vats. No oak aging.

Tasting Notes

The 2020 harvest marks the 25th anniversary of the winery – founded in 1995 – and represents a success on a path of learning in which we recognize ourselves as experts in Malbec. In this wine we return to this experience and the joy of our celebration. A wine with an intense ruby red color, with an expressive nose that highlights notes of red fruits, ciruelas and subtle aromas of eucalyptus. In the mouth it is very fresh, with balanced acidity and friendly tannins. It has a long finish, very fruity, which leaves subtle mineral notes of tiza on the palate. It is ideal to accompany classic red meats, pastas with generous salsas or vegetables al wok.

Vintage Notes

The season began with a dry and fresh spring, which favored the good ones in the vineyard. Summer is characterized by moderate temperatures and a large amount of precipitation in February and March, the months in which the windstorm is carried out. At the end of the season, precipitation decreased and temperatures in the tuvieron large peaks remained moderate and stable, maintaining the bay’s turgency and avoiding over-ripe descriptors. These conditions decanted in wines with great freshness and aromatic expression, high color intensities, elegant tannins and a great structure.

Tasting Notes

Since our beginnings in 1995, we have dedicated our study and expertise to the production of Malbec wines. This wine is the result of years of work with the variety in the different Terroir of Mendoza. With a characteristic deep red color with violet hues, on the nose it shows an honest expression of the variety, full of notes of eucalyptus, cassis, white pepper, plum, cardamom, orange peel and jarilla. The nose is very present, something typical of the winery’s style. The mouthfeel is juicy and crisp, with a marked acidity that guides the wine in the mouth. The tannins are supple, a touch succulent, and it has a long and fruity finish. It is ideal to pair with various dishes, from red meats to pasta or grilled vegetables.

Vintage Notes

This was a shorter harvest than others, but no less intense. The season was marked by strong heatwaves, a year in which the physiological maturity was slightly delayed with respect to the organoleptic. Our work in the vineyard allowed us to obtain the desired alcohol and acidity just before the heat waves, preserving the fruit character and the tension of the skin of the berries. The season also had heavy rains, which threatened to delay the harvest. However, the rains stopped and gave us a window, just in time, to harvest our fruit with optimum ripeness and health. The cold of the last few weeks before harvest gave the grapes the necessary time to finish ripening and balance all their compounds. 2022 was a year with great concentrations, colors, and health, in which fruity and spicy notes prevailed.

vineyard

Grapes from high density vineyards in our estate in Luján de Cuyo. The vines, trained on trellises, are in the oldest plots of our estate, planted in 2000. These plots have soils with almost no clay and very good drainage. Soil preparation with earthworm humus, irrigation management and organic mulches from the beginning were aimed at deep root development, a key factor, especially in hot climates, to produce quality wines with good natural freshness.

Winemaking

100% hand-harvested Malbec grapes from our own certified organic vineyard plots. Fermentation is done in separate stainless steel tanks at 24°C for 10 days. Fermentation exclusively with native yeast. Matured in concrete vats for 9 months. No oak aging.

Tasting Notes

This well-balanced Malbec shows a brilliant ruby red color. The nose combines aromas of fresh plums, pepper and eucalyptus with delicate herbaceous notes. On the palate, fruity notes and refreshing acidity make this an easy-drinking wine with round tannins and a long finish. A contemporary expression of Malbec, made from 100% organic grapes.
